New York, New York — Kate Arthur, writer at highly-esteemed online publication Buzzfeed, wrote an article this week on Chip and Joanna Gaines, hosts of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper.” Investigating their attendance of a church that actually takes words and phrases put in the Bible by God seriously, she writes,
So are the Gaineses against same-sex marriage? And would they ever feature a same-sex couple on the show, as have HGTV’s House Hunters and Property Brothers? Emails to Brock Murphy, the public relations director at their company, Magnolia, were not returned. Nor were emails and calls to HGTV’s PR department.
After reading the article, the last four years makes much more sense to the Gaines family,
“We had no clue we were being filmed and put on television. This is really shocking to hear,” Chip Gaines said with ruffled brows. “Joanna and I were just going from house to house and fixing old junk up and meeting new people. We made a lot of good friends. Then I find out we’ve got four season’s-worth of footage out there on cable.” “There was a man, Jarvis is his name, he came every day to point a big black, shiny glass bazooka at us, for fun, and we’d just talk to him because it seemed like he was really interested in what we were doing. Now I realize he wasn’t really a great listener, he was just filming us for a television show on HGTV.”
“Other than the fact that we are getting hate-mail and bags of human feces left on our front porch, I’m really glad Buzzfeed wrote that article,” said Joanna. ” We may never have found out were were on a TV show. Oh yeah, and a stupid article on Buzzfeed won’t change our opinion on the veracity of God’s Word and thousands of years of church history.”
