When we asked Trevin Wax to go ahead and explain the plot of “8 Mile,” we didn’t know what to expect. Then he told us and our mouths dropped.
According to Trevin,
“The beautiful movie ‘8 Mile’ is a true story about the life and struggles of Eminem, starring Marshall Mathers himself. I vaguely remember him and his family living in a motor home or RV or something, so maybe they were a family of carnies. Things got hard for Marshall and his mom, but then Mathers hears a voice in a corn field tell him, ‘If you build it, he will come.’ The ghosts of Shoeless Joe Jackson and the other seven Chicago White Sox players banned from the game for throwing the 1919 World Series appear. When the voices continue, Marshall and his mom seek out a reclusive author to help him understand the meaning of the messages and the purpose for his field.”
Incredibly bold assessment!
